Can I Cook This in A Crockpot?

We have cooked our Keto Thanksgiving ham in the oven until golden and tender. If you would prefer, you may cook the ham in a slow cooker. Simply add the ham to the crockpot with the stock and drizzle over the maple glaze. As a guideline, cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-7 hours for tender fall-apart meat. Crockpot cooking times can vary, so check that the meat is completely cooked through.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoon maple flavored syrup by lakanto
  • 2 pound virginia ham (country ham), visible fat eaten
  • 2 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon, ground
  • ½ cup chicken broth, bouillon or consomme, ready-to-serve can
  • ⅛ teaspoon cloves, ground

Instructions

  1. Add the maple-flavored syrup, orange juice, balsamic vinegar, cinnamon, and cloves to a small mixing bowl. Mix together until smooth and well combined. You may adjust the level of spices and seasonings as desired to suit your personal taste.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Sit the ham on an oven tray and brush all over with half the maple glaze. Loosely cover the ham with foil. Pour the stock into the oven tray. Transfer to the oven and bake for 1 hour.
  3. After an hour, remove the foil from the ham. Carefully score the fat with a sharp knife. Brush the ham all over with the remaining maple orange glaze. Return to the oven and cook for another 30 minutes uncovered, or until the ham is completely cooked through, golden brown and tender. Serve with your favorite Keto Thanksgiving sides.
