- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
- 2 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp, leaves spices oregano dried
- 1 tsp, leaves spices basil dried
- ½ cup passata tomato cooking sauce by remano
- ⅛ teaspoon salt
- 1 small red onions
- ½ cup, sliced red pepper
- ½ pepper, large (3-3/4 in. long, 3 in. dia) yellow bell pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon basil fresh
- 3 ½ ounce mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 390 degrees Fahrenheit and line a shallow oven tray with baking paper.
- Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat. Add the peppers and onions and fry gently until tender and caramelised – around 15/20 minutes.
- While the peppers are cooking, add the ground beef, garlic powder, egg and parmesan to a large mixing bowl. Season well.
- Combine the mixture thoroughly with your hands and transfer to the lined tray. Press into a large circle about 1cm thick to form the base.
- Transfer to the oven to bake for 15 minutes, remove and drain off any excess liquid.
- While the base is cooking you can make the sauce. Add the passata, balsamic, oregano and dried basil to a medium saucepan.
- Bring to the boil gently and reduce to a simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently until thickened.
- Spoon the sauce evenly over the meatza base and top with torn mozzarella chunks.
- Arrange the pepper and onion pieces over the top of the mozzarella.
- Return to the oven for a further 12-15 minutes until the meat is piping hot and cooked through and the cheese is melted. Scatter with fresh basil to serve.
