These spicy green beans are sautéed in sesame, lemon and chili flakes then tossed with crunchy toasted sesame seeds to serve.
These make a great side option for Asian inspired meals with meat, fish or tofu.
Ingredients
- 3 ½ ounce green beans (string beans), raw
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 teaspoon, whole pieces sesame seeds, hulled, toasted, unsalted
- 2 teaspoon lemon juice, fresh
- 1 teaspoon hot chili pepper, dried, with seeds
- ¼ teaspoon salt, sea salt
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Add the green beans to a pan of boiling water and simmer for 4-5 minutes until just tender. Drain completely.
- Add the chili flakes, sesame oil, salt, pepper and lemon juice to a small bowl and mix to combine.
- Heat the olive oil in a skillet over a low/medium heat. Thinly slice the garlic and add to the pan, sweating until tender. Add the green beans and toss to combine.
- Add the chili, lemon and sesame oil mixture and stir fry for a minute or so until the beans are hot through.
- Toss the spicy beans with the toasted sesame seeds to serve.
