About

For this recipe, you will need two thinly sliced NY strip steaks. If you have difficulty finding this at a grocery store, you can purchase one thick, boneless strip steak, and slice it in half at home. Each steak is topped off with a layer of gooey, parmesan cheese. Under the steak is a crispy, fried layer of golden brown cheese as well.

Ingredients

  • ¾ pound butcher shop boneless beef new york strip steak by trader joe's
  • 2 teaspoon olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ tablespoon butter
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoon rosemary fresh
  • ¾ cup, grated parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Lay two boneless strip steaks on a flat, clean surface. Drizzle the olive oil across the exposed sides. Sprinkle the first amounts of salt and pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder across the exposed sides as well.
  2. In a medium sized skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Place the steaks in the skillet, seasoned side down. Sprinkle the second amount of salt and pepper over the tops of the steaks. Place the rosemary on top as well.
  3. Cover the skillet with a lid, and cook the steaks for about 5 minutes. Just before flipping, sprinkle about 1 TB of the parmesan cheese over each steak. Then, flip the steaks overs. Push the rosemary to the side of the skillet, and sprinkle the remaining parmesan cheese over the newly exposed steak.
  4. Keep the lid on the skillet, and cook the steak for another 3-4 minutes. This is enough time to let the exposed cheese melt and the cheese under the steak crisp up to a slightly-crunchy, golden brown color.
  5. Enjoy immediately. Don’t forget to scrape up any fried cheese onto the steaks while serving!
