Your fish dish is going to taste rich, buttery, and luxurious when you cook it in this Piccata recipe. Blacked cod filets are finish off in an ultra-buttery sauce with lots of lemon juice, capers, and a sprinkle of red pepper. Serve with your favorite low-carb vegetable side.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz cod atlantic raw
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper, ground
  • ⅛ teaspoon garlic, powder
  • ¼ teaspoon italian seasoning
  • 2 teaspoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon butter, unsalted
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon capers
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper by simply organic

Instructions

  1. Season 3-oz cod filets with the salt, pepper, garlic powder, and italian seasoning. Press the seasoning into the cod so it adheres.
  2. Pour the oil into a pan in 1 teaspoon portions. Heat the oil on medium-high heat and place the cod into the hot oil seasoned side down.
  3. Cook the cod until it is blackened on one side and naturally releases from your pan. Flip the fish over and reduce the heat to low. Melt the butter in the center of the pan
  4. Place the remaining ingredients in the butter. Place a lid over the pan and let the butter become fragrant for 60 seconds. Use a spoon to ladle the seasoned butter over the filets as they continue cooking for another 3 minutes.
  5. Serve immediately when done.
