Beat the heat or take yourself away to somewhere tropical, even if just in your head (and tastebuds)! This hibiscus cooler is made with fluorescent pink hibiscus tea. The cold tea is poured over ice with slices of refreshing cucumber and muddled lime. It’s all topped off with a little fizzy sparkling water. Although the drink is delicious on its own, you can make this drink whenever you’re experiencing symptoms of Keto Flu. If you’re feeling a little sluggish, dizzy, or are having trouble focusing, this recipe will perk you up.

How Does An Electrolyte Drink Work?

For an electrolyte drink to be most beneficial, a few components are needed. Every Keto electrolyte drink recipe needs a base, acid, and a little salt. Your base can be water. Acid can come from citrus or vinegar. Add your Keto sweetener of choice to make your drink more palatable.

Does It Matter What Type Of Salt I Use?

It seems like Keto electrolyte drink recipes always call for sea salt. Do you really need to always pull out your flaky sea salt or pink Himalayan salt for these drinks? Nope! You can use regular table salt too. Most would say, however, sea salt tends to have a better taste and retains more nutrients.

Ingredients

  • 12 fl oz hibiscus tea, unsweetened
  • 5 Drop liquid stevia
  • ⅛ teaspoon erythritol granulated
  • 1 dash salt, himalayan (pink)
  • 1 wedge – 1/8 of 2" diameter lime
  • 1 oz cucumber

Instructions

  1. Fill a glass with cold water and brew a bag of hibiscus tea in it for at least 4 minutes. You may also make real iced tea by brewing the tea hot and then steeping and chilling the tea overnight. However, this way is much faster. When the tea is brewed, discard the bag, and stir liquid stevia, erythritol, and a pinch of salt into the cold tea.
  2. Cut a lime wedge into two pieces, and muddle them in the bottom of a new glass. Choose a glass that holds at least 16 fluid ounces because you’ll need the extra space. Once the lime is muddled, top with thin slices of fresh cucumber. Then, fill the new glass with ice cubes.
  3. Pour the hibiscus tea over the ice, cucumber, and lime. To top off the drink, add a splash or up to ¼ cup of plain or lime-flavored sparkling water. Drink right away while the drink is cold, fizzy, and replenishing. If you want a stronger hibiscus flavor, you can brew two tea bags in one glass.
