This simple cauliflower steak is par boiled until tender then loaded with pizza inspired toppings to create a simple yet tasty lunch or dinner option.

This makes a great lunch served with a green salad or with a portion of crispy kale.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • 3 tablespoon, grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1 teaspoon oregano, dried
  • 1 slice prosciutto
  • ½ tablespoon basil, fresh
  • ¼ medium – head – 5" to 6" diameter cauliflower, raw

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Slice the cauliflower into two even steaks, about a half inch thick. Add to a pan of boiling water and simmer until tender. Remove and pat dry.
  3. Divide the tomato sauce between the two cauliflower steaks and sprinkle over the oregano.
  4. Scatter the mozzarella over the steaks.
  5. Tear the prosciutto and arrange across the mozzarella.
  6. Transfer the cauliflower steaks to the oven to bake for 8-10 minutes until the cheese has melted, the ham starts to crisp and the cauliflower is cooked and turning golden. Scatter with fresh basil to serve.
