This simple cauliflower steak is par boiled until tender then loaded with pizza inspired toppings to create a simple yet tasty lunch or dinner option.
This makes a great lunch served with a green salad or with a portion of crispy kale.
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoon tomato sauce
- 3 tablespoon, grated mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon oregano, dried
- 1 slice prosciutto
- ½ tablespoon basil, fresh
- ¼ medium – head – 5" to 6" diameter cauliflower, raw
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Slice the cauliflower into two even steaks, about a half inch thick. Add to a pan of boiling water and simmer until tender. Remove and pat dry.
- Divide the tomato sauce between the two cauliflower steaks and sprinkle over the oregano.
- Scatter the mozzarella over the steaks.
- Tear the prosciutto and arrange across the mozzarella.
- Transfer the cauliflower steaks to the oven to bake for 8-10 minutes until the cheese has melted, the ham starts to crisp and the cauliflower is cooked and turning golden. Scatter with fresh basil to serve.
