About

These delicious Keto wings are oven-baked in a simple sweet and salty glaze until caramelized and crisp. Our tasty low carb wings are firstly part-cooked then coated in a marinade of tomato paste, lakanto syrup, tamari sauce, lime juice, garlic powder, sesame oil and a touch of xanthan gum. Once basted with the glaze, the wings are returned to the oven to crisp up.

Can I Use a Different Sweetener?

We have used a low carb maple-flavored syrup for our tasty Keto chicken wings. The syrup is simmered with the other glaze ingredients until rich and sticky. If preferred, you may use an alternative low carb sweetener, adjusting the quantities to taste. Powdered erythritol or a little stevia would make a good alternative. Please be sure to adjust your macros to account for any changes made to the original recipe.

Do I Have to Use Xanthan Gum?

We have used just a touch of xanthan gum to thicken our low carb marinade. Adding the gum transforms a simple sauce into a glossy glaze with better consistency for basting. You can omit the gum if preferred, however, and simply brush the wings with the sauce.

Ingredients

  • 8 wing chicken wing, skin eaten
  • 2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoon tamari sauce
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon maple flavored syrup
  • ½ teaspoon salt, sea salt
  • ½ tablespoon lime juice, fresh
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon xantham gum gluten free
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly oil a shallow oven tray. Pat the chicken wings dry with a paper towel. Arrange the chicken wings across the prepared oven tray. Season them with salt and pepper and drizzle with the olive oil. Transfer to the oven to bake for 20 minutes.
  2. While the wings are cooking, you can prepare the glaze. Add the tomato paste, tamari, syrup, lime juice, garlic powder and sesame oil to a small saucepan. Set over a low heat and stir well to combine, warming through.
  3. Sprinkle the xanthan gum over the surface of the sauce. Whisk the gum into the sauce for a minute. The sauce should become glossy and thickened.
  4. Remove the wings from the oven. Brush the glaze evenly and liberally all over the chicken. Return to the oven for a further 10 minutes until golden and caramelized, and the chicken is completely cooked through. Serve with your favorite Keto sides.
