This Keto air fryer recipe is the best way to make perfectly golden breaded fish. Our Keto-friendly fish recipe uses sea bass fillets coated in a low carb breading of ground almonds, a hint of zesty lemon and aromatic dill. Once breaded, the fillets are simply air fried until crisp and golden. This is a great way to enjoy ‘breaded’ fish without the carbs!

Can I Use an Alternative Fish?

We have used skinless and boneless sea bass fillets to make our Keto air fryer fish recipe. If you would like to use an alternative fish, cod or haddock would be a great alternative. We have used two large sea bass fillets, cut into halves to give us four smaller portions. If you are using larger, thicker fish fillets you may need to adjust your breading ratios accordingly. Please be sure to adjust your macros to account for any changes made to the recipe.

Can I Bake This in The Oven?

We have used an air fryer to create a crisp and golden outer crumb for our sea bass fillets. If you do not have an air fryer you may bake these in the oven. Simply follow the recipe as directed and preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease an oven tray and arrange the fish on the tray. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the fish is cooked through and the crumb is golden.

Ingredients

  • 2 fillet – each 4 1/2 ounce raw white sea bass
  • 1 cup, ground almonds, raw
  • 1 medium raw egg
  • 1 teaspoon dill weed, dried
  • 1 teaspoon lemon peel or zest raw
  • ½ teaspoon salt, sea salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Arrange the fish fillets on a plate or clean work surface slice each fillet in half width ways. Add the ground almonds, a heaped teaspoon of lemon zest, a heaped teaspoon of dried dill, salt and pepper to a bowl. Mix well to combine. You may add more salt and pepper as needed. Crack the egg into a separate bowl and beat until smooth.
  2. Dredge one of the fish fillets in the beaten egg until liberally coated. Then dredge in the crumb mixture until well coated in breading. Repeat this process with the remaining three fish fillets.
  3. Lightly oil the basket of the air fryer. Arrange two of the breaded fish fillets in the air fryer basket. Set the temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and set the timer for 10 minutes. Check the fish is piping hot and completely cooked through and the crumb is golden brown. If needed, cook for a few minutes more.
  4. Add the remaining fillets to the base of the air fryer. Repeat the process, cooking through until golden. Serve the fish hot with your preferred Keto sides.
