About

Tikka Masala is an absolute classic, but you don’t have to spend hours over a stovetop cooking down spices! The ingredient list is lengthy, but it takes just 10 minutes to get everything together. Serve your Chicken Tikka Masala with cauliflower rice, fried rice, or keto veggies!

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pound chicken breast, skin removed before cooking
  • ½ cup greek yogurt, plain, premium
  • 2 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon ginger, ground
  • ¾ teaspoon garam masala
  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon cumin, ground
  • ½ teaspoon coriander, seed
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric, ground
  • 3 gram bay leaf
  • ⅓ cup heavy cream
  • ¼ teaspoon baking aids xanthan gum by bob's red mill

Instructions

  1. Chop the chicken breast into 1 or 2-bite pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the chicken with the greek yogurt, tomato paste, and all the seasonings except the bay leaves.
  3. Pour the chicken mix into a crock pot and add the bay leaves on top. Cook the tikka masala on high heat for 6 hours or on low for 8-9 hours.
  4. After the 6 hours, leave the crock pot on high heat. Remove the bay leaves. Combine the heavy cream and xanthan gum. Then, pour the cream into the tikka masala. Stir everything together in the crock pot, and let the chicken cook without the lid on for 20 minutes so the sauce thickens.
  5. Serve hot! You may garnish with cilantro if you wish.
