About

This Keto crumbed fish recipe makes a great low carb alternative to traditional breaded fish. Our low carb baked fish is coated in a layer of beaten egg, then breaded in a combination of seasoned ground almonds and aromatic dried dill. Once the fish fillets have been coated in the low carb breading, they are oven-baked until crisp and golden. Perfect served with a hearty Keto salad or low carb slaw.

Can I Use a Different Type of Fish?

We have used sea bass fillets for this Keto fish recipe. If preferred, you can swap these fillets for an alternative white fish such as cod, haddock or flounder. Please be sure to adjust your macros to account for any different ingredients used and adjust your cooking times as needed for different sizes and types of fish.

Can I Cook This in An Air Fryer?

We have baked our Keto breaded fish fillets in the oven until crisp and golden. If preferred, you may cook the fish in the basket of an air fryer. Depending on the size of the fillets, you may need to cook them individually to ensure they cook thoroughly and evenly. If you wish to use an air fryer, set the temperature to 390 degrees and cook for 12-15 minutes or until the fish is completely cooked through and the crumb is crisp and golden.

Ingredients

  • 2 fillet – each 4 1/2 ounce raw white sea bass
  • 1 medium raw egg
  • 1 teaspoon dill weed, dried
  • 1 teaspoon lemon peel or zest raw
  • ½ cup, ground almonds, raw
  • ½ teaspoon salt, sea salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Crack the egg into a bowl and whisk until smooth. Add the ground almonds, a heaped teaspoon of dried dill, a heaped teaspoon of lemon zest, salt and pepper to a separate bowl. Mix well to combine. You may add more salt and pepper as desired to suit your taste.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly oil a shallow oven tray. Take one of the fish fillets and dip it in the beaten egg so that it is completely coated all over. Then, dip the egg coated fillet in the low carb breading so that it is coated evenly all over in the crumb. Repeat this with the second fillet, using up all the breading mixture.
  3. Arrange the breaded fillets on the prepared oven tray. Transfer to the oven and bake for 15-18 minutes or until the fish is entirely cooked through and the crumb is crisp and golden all over. Serve the fish hot with your preferred Keto sides.
