What an excellent way to enjoy holiday flavors without succumbing to carbs! These savory-seasoned turkey burgers are stuffed with a buttery and fragrant filling of walnuts and mushrooms. You can add on to this recipe like you would a traditional burger at your discretion. You may also melt a slice of mild cheese on your burger during cooking!

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 2 ½ ounce brown mushrooms (italian or crimini mushrooms), raw, high in vitamin d
  • 1 ½ ounce chef's naturals chopped walnuts by fisher
  • ½ teaspoon garlic
  • ¼ ounce green onions
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper, ground
  • ⅛ teaspoon thyme, dried
  • ⅛ teaspoon rosemary, dried
  • ⅛ teaspoon oregano, dried
  • ⅛ teaspoon parsley, dried
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • 3 teaspoon olive oil
  • 10 ounce ground turkey

Instructions

  1. Start by melting butter in a pan over low heat. Roughly chop your mushrooms and toss them in the butter. Place a lid on pan and cook the mushrooms for 3-4 minutes to brown them.
  2. Stir chopped walnuts into the pan. Return the lid to the pan and heat for another 2-3 minutes, until you can smell the walnuts become toasted in the butter.
  3. Take the ingredients off the stove. Combine them in a food processor with the garlic and green onion. Pulse until you have a creamy blend and set aside to cool.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, salt, pepper, thyme, rosemary, oregano, parsley, and paprika. Form the mixture into 2 portions and flatten on a clean surface.
  5. Place an equal portion of stuffing in the center of each flattened turkey patty. Fold the turkey over the stuffing to form a ball. Turn the ball over so the seam is on your surface and press down slightly to seal the burger patty.
  6. Heat the olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Place the patties in the oil, seam side down, and flatten down with a spatula. Place a lid over the pan and cook the burgers for 4-5 minutes per side. Adjust the heat as necessary to avoid burning.
  7. Let the burgers cool off the stove before adding any toppings.
