How to Make a Keto OMAD Recipe

OMAD eating is designed to allow your body a 23 hour fast between meals. The idea is that you consume one large meal within a one-hour window – at whichever time of day you choose. Making Keto OMAD recipes is simple to do. The key is to ensure that you are consuming a generous volume of Keto compliant fats, protein, and some low carb veggies. If this is a new way of eating for you, we recommend working with an experienced practitioner or health care professional to ensure you are meeting your body's nutritional requirements.

Can I Use a Different Protein?

We have used beef to create our ultimate Keto burger patty. If you would prefer a different meat, we recommend using fattier cuts such as pork or ground turkey thigh. Not only will this add to the fat count of your Keto OMAD meal, but it will help the burger stay juicy when baking. Please be sure to adjust your macros to account for any changes made to the original recipe.

Ingredients

  • 9 ounce hamburger or ground beef, 90% lean
  • 2 small leaf iceberg lettuce
  • 1 slice – 6" long bacon
  • 1 ounce cheddar cheese slice by horizon organic
  • 1 small raw egg
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • ½ small – approx 2" long pickles
  • ½ small – 2 2/5" diameter tomato
  • ½ cup red cabbage
  • ½ cup cabbage
  • ½ tablespoon red onion
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon salt, sea salt
  • â…› teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ each avocado

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Add the ground beef to a mixing bowl along with the garlic powder and a pinch of salt and pepper. Use your hands to mix together well, distributing the seasonings throughout the beef. Please feel free to adjust or add seasoning to personal preference.
  2. Use your hands to form the beef into a patty, roughly 1/2 an inch thick. Place the burger patty onto a shallow oven tray. Transfer to the oven for 18 minutes, or until completely cooked through and piping hot.
  3. While the burger is cooking you can prepare the slaw. Thinly slice the cabbage and onion. Add to a mixing bowl along with a pinch of salt and pepper, 1 tablespoon of olive, the mayonnaise and the mustard. Mix everything together well to combine, coating the cabbage evenly in the dressing. Set to one side.
  4. Once the burger is cooked, layer with the sliced cheese. Return the burger to the oven. Cook for just a few minutes more to allow the cheese to melt, coating the top of the burger.
  5. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over a medium/high heat. Add the bacon and crack the egg into the skillet. Cook the egg through, keeping the yolk runny. Cook the bacon through until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Place one lettuce leaf on a serving plate and sit the cheese-covered patty on top. Thinly slice the pickle, avocado and tomato. Layer the sliced avocado, tomato and pickle over the burger patty.
  7. Place the cooked bacon slice on top of the tomato, avocado and pickle layer. Sit the fried egg on top of the bacon. Finish the burger with the second lettuce leaf. The lettuce will act as a wrap to make it easier (and slightly less messy!) to hold your burger.
  8. Serve the burger alongside the prepared slaw. To eat, hold the burger in the lettuce wrap. Alternatively, use a knife and fork for less mess!
