About

It doesn’t get any easier than roasting a whole chicken. All you need to do is pat the chicken dry, smear it with some fat, salt and spices. The key to getting a perfectly cooked chicken is using a thermometer to check for doneness. Once the thickest part of the chicken (usually the thigh or breast) reaches 165 F, the chicken is done. It’ll be so hot, juicy and delicious and you can pair it with so many vegetables and sides.

Ingredients

  • 4 pound whole chicken by kroger
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 4 Tablespoon za'atar seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat an oven to 425F. Remove chicken from packaging and pat dry with paper towels. Truss chicken so wings are tucked in and legs are tied together.
  2. Smear softened butter over chicken and sprinkle with salt and za’atar seasoning on the front and back.
  3. Roast chicken for about 1 ½ hours until cooked through and the temp in the thickest part of the chicken has reached 165 F.
