About

Who knew adding bacon and spices to mayonnaise would be such a tasty treat! The perfect accompaniment to meat or seafood dishes, for topping salads or simply as an indulgent dip, this baconnaise will become a firm family favorite!

This simple to make dip calls for shop bought mayo as the base and is transformed with the addition of salty bacon and smoky spices.

If you enjoy making your own mayo, this would work just as well.

Ingredients

  • 2 medium slice (yield after cooking) bacon
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon tomato puree
  • ¾ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ teaspoon gourmet collection smoked paprika by mccormick
  • ½ tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon celery salt by spice supreme
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over a medium heat and add the bacon. Fry until golden brown on both sides – about 5 minutes.
  2. Leave the bacon to cool in the pan whilst you prepare the mayonnaise. Add the mayo to a mixing bowl with the smoked paprika, celery salt, tomato puree, mustard, garlic powder and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  3. Once the bacon is cool, cut into small pieces and add to a mixing bowl along with all the bacon cooking fats.
  4. Tip the cold chopped bacon into the mayonnaise mixture and stir well to combine.
  5. Chill before serving.
