A great option for those of you that like savory breakfasts or if you want to pair this with some shrimp that would be great too!

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup water
  • ⅓ teaspoon coarse kosher salt by morton
  • 2 tablespoon organic ground flax seed by wild oats
  • 2 tablespoon coconut flour
  • 6 tablespoon, shredded shredded cheddar
  • ½ tablespoon heavy cream
  • 1 large raw egg
  • 2 teaspoon butter

Instructions

  1. Combine water, salt, flax seeds and coconut flour together in a small saucepan.
  2. Whisk mixture until it starts to thicken.
  3. Whisk egg in a small bowl, then add some of the thickened, hot mixture into the egg to temper it. Then place it all back into the saucepan.
  4. Whisk contents of saucepan until mixture thickens again and egg is cooked about 2 minutes. Take the grits off the heat and stir in the shredded cheese and butter until well combined. Taste and add additional salt as needed.
  5. Top with heavy cream and serve hot!
