This simple side is loaded with sweet and sour flavor from lakanto syrup, zesty lime, tamari sauce, and a little spicy kick from red pepper flakes.

This makes a great accompaniment to stir fried pork or chicken.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup cabbage
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes by 365
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice, fresh
  • 1 tablespoon tamari sauce
  • 1 tablespoon maple flavored syrup by lakanto
  • ¼ teaspoon salt, sea salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat the coconut oil in a pan over a low/medium heat. Thinly slice the garlic and add to the pan along with the red pepper flakes. Sweat gently until tender and fragrant.
  2. Slice the cabbage into half inch strips and add to the pan. Stir well to coat in the oil and seasonings and cook for 2-3 minutes until tender.
  3. Add the syrup, tamari, lime juice, salt and pepper and stir well to combine. Continue to cook for 2 minutes more, stirring often, until the cabbage has softened a little and is starting to caramelize in the sauce.
