This simple side is loaded with sweet and sour flavor from lakanto syrup, zesty lime, tamari sauce, and a little spicy kick from red pepper flakes.
This makes a great accompaniment to stir fried pork or chicken.
Ingredients
- 2 cup cabbage
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes by 365
- 1 teaspoon lime juice, fresh
- 1 tablespoon tamari sauce
- 1 tablespoon maple flavored syrup by lakanto
- ¼ teaspoon salt, sea salt
- ⅛ teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Heat the coconut oil in a pan over a low/medium heat. Thinly slice the garlic and add to the pan along with the red pepper flakes. Sweat gently until tender and fragrant.
- Slice the cabbage into half inch strips and add to the pan. Stir well to coat in the oil and seasonings and cook for 2-3 minutes until tender.
- Add the syrup, tamari, lime juice, salt and pepper and stir well to combine. Continue to cook for 2 minutes more, stirring often, until the cabbage has softened a little and is starting to caramelize in the sauce.
