Maybe you weren’t a fan of brussel sprouts as a child, but this recipe is perfectly good for adults and kids alike! These sprouts are baked at a high heat to have a super crispy outside and a tender, chewy inside. Simply seasoned, and tossed with bacon, each bite is a little salty, a little smokey, and have just a touch of citrus!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound brussels sprouts, raw
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 slice – 6" long bacon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon peel

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a sheet tray with parchment paper. Toss the brussel sprouts with the olive oil, salt, and pepper. Then, spread them out on the lined tray.
  2. Bake the brussel sprouts in the oven for 50 minutes, turning them over halfway through for even cooking. Meanwhile, cook the bacon to a crisp, and chop it into bits for later use.
  3. In the last 10 minutes of the brussel sprouts baking, sprinkle the bacon bits over the brussel sprouts and return the tray to the oven for the final 10 minutes.
  4. Serve the brussel sprouts with fresh lemon zest and enjoy!
