About

These homemade Keto hotdogs are loaded with the classic flavor of hotdogs minus the heavy carbs! Our Paleo-friendly hot dogs are a healthier way to enjoy this family favorite, perfect for lunch, dinner or even snacking. This versatile recipe provides you with a great Keto hotdog base from which you can add your favorite sides and toppings.

Are Hotdogs Keto?

Traditional hotdog sausages are prepared with highly processed pork that can contain a number of additives, preservatives and fillers. Not only do our homemade hotdogs offer you a Keto and Paleo-friendly adaptation, but they are all round a much healthier choice. We have served our Keto hotdogs in a simple lettuce wrap. This makes a great low carb vehicle for your hotdog sausage and toppings in place of a carb-heavy bun.

Serving Suggestions

We have served our Keto hotdogs with classic toppings of diced onion, sliced pickles and mustard. However, this is a great opportunity to get creative and add your favorite toppings. Why not try some sliced cherry tomatoes or a little sauerkraut? Additionally, if mustard is not your condiment of choice, we have a range of alternative low carb sauces that can be found in our sides section, such as our Keto Thousand Island dressing or low carb tomato ketchup. Please be sure to adjust your macros to account for any changes made to the recipe and for any additional sides.

Ingredients

  • 9 ounce ground pork
  • 4 inner (small) leaf lettuce, romaine or cos
  • 4 small – approx 2" long dill pickles
  • 2 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon gourmet collection smoked paprika by mccormick
  • 1 tablespoon white onion
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon celery salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Add the ground pork to a mixing bowl. Add the smoked paprika, mustard powder, garlic powder, celery salt and pepper. Please feel free to adjust the quantities of seasoning and spices to your personal preference.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and line a shallow oven tray with baking paper. Divide the seasoned pork mixture into 4 even portions. Roll each portion into a sausage shape roughly 1 inch wide.
  3. Arrange the sausages across the prepared oven tray. Transfer to the oven to bake for 16-18 minutes, or until completely cooked through. The sausages should be golden brown all over, piping hot through and no longer pink inside.
  4. While the sausages are cooking, finely dice the onion and thinly slice the dill pickles. Trim the tough stalks from the base of each lettuce leaf and wipe the leaves clean. Arrange the leaves on individual serving plates or one large platter.
  5. Place one hotdog sausage in the center of each prepared leaf. Divide the chopped onion and dill pickles evenly between the four hotdogs. Top each hotdog with a half teaspoon of mustard. Serve hot with your preferred Keto hotdog sides and toppings.
