This simple side is loaded with fats and flavor from creamy butter, tender broccoli, salty anchovies, capers and a hint of lemon.

This is a great side dish for chicken or fish or could even be tossed through a low carb spaghetti!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 anchovies anchovy canned
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon lemon peel or zest raw
  • 1 tablespoon, whole pieces capers

Instructions

  1. Add the broccoli to a small pan of boiling water. Simmer for 4-5 minutes until just tender then drain completely.
  2. Melt the butter in a skillet over a low/medium heat. Crush the garlic and roughly chop the capers. Add to the skillet along with the lemon zest and tear in the anchovy fillets. Cook for a couple minutes until the garlic is tender and the anchovies soften.
  3. Add the broccoli to the pan and toss in the butter and seasonings. Cook for a minute or two more until hot through.
