This deliciously simple stir fried broccoli is coated in a sweet, sour and spicy dressing of maple flavored syrup, dried chili flakes, sesame oil and topped with crunchy sesame seeds.

This is a great side dish to accompany sweet and sour pork, chicken or seafood.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 teaspoon lime juice, fresh
  • 1 tablespoon maple flavored syrup by lakanto
  • 1 tablespoon tamari sauce
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon, whole pieces sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon hot chili pepper, dried, with seeds

Instructions

  1. Add the broccoli to a pan of boiling water. Simmer for 4-5 minutes until just tender. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet or wok over a low/medium heat. Thinly slice the garlic and sweat gently until tender. Add the broccoli and increase the heat to medium and stir fry for a minute to brown the edges a little.
  3. Whilst the broccoli is cooking, whisk together the syrup, tamari, sesame oil, lime juice and chili flakes.
  4. Pour half the sweet and sour dressing over the broccoli and stir fry for a minute more.
  5. Drizzle the broccoli with the remaining dressing and scatter with sesame seeds to serve.
