About

Our easy Keto beef jerky is coated in a sweet and smoky marinade before being oven baked low and slow until deliciously chewy. This Keto jerky makes an excellent high protein snack, perfect to enjoy on the go or in between meals. This versatile jerky recipe also provides you with a great base recipe from which you can add or adjust your own seasonings to taste.

Can I Make This in An Air Fryer?

Keto beef jerky is not only versatile in flavorings but also in cooking methods. As well as cooking low and slow in the oven, you may also cook the jerky in your air fryer if preferred. Simply prepare the beef as directed and arrange in an even layer in the basket of your air fryer. Cook at 180 degrees Fahrenheit for 90 minutes. If it’s not at your desired consistency, you may continue to cook for longer. Cooking in the oven will require a longer bake time, however you will be able to cook all the jerky on one tray. Cooking in the air fryer may require working in two batches.

Can I Use Different Seasonings?

Keto beef jerky is perfect for adapting to your own tastes with your preferred choice of seasonings. We have chosen a sweet and smoky blend of maple-flavored syrup, garlic powder, thyme and smoked paprika. However, this can easily be switched up to suit! How about adding some chili powder for a spicy jerky? Or some Chinese five-spice and tamari sauce for an Asian inspired seasoning? Please be sure that you adjust your macros to account for any changes you have made to the original recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound roast beef, round tip, no visible fat eaten
  • 2 teaspoon gourmet collection smoked paprika by mccormick
  • 1 ½ tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon thyme, dried
  • ½ tablespoon maple flavored syrup by lakanto
  • ¼ teaspoon salt, sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef round into half inch thick slices. Cut each of these slices into strips, roughly 3/4 inch wide. Add the sliced beef strips to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the maple-flavored syrup, olive oil, thyme, paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper to the bowl with the beef. Use your hands to mix well, coating the beef evenly in the seasonings. At this stage, you may add or adjust the seasonings to personal tastes. Cover the beef and refrigerate for one hour to marinate. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large shallow oven tray with baking paper.
  3. Arrange the marinated beef strips in an even layer across the prepared oven tray. Ensure the strips are evenly spaced out and do not overlap. This will allow for even cooking throughout. Transfer the tray to the oven and bake for 1 hour. Remove the oven from the tray and carefully turn each beef strip over. Return to the oven and bake for a further hour and a half, or until the jerky is chewy and at your desired consistency. You may bake for longer if you prefer a firmer texture.
