Can I Use Different Herbs?

We have used fresh rosemary and thyme for our Keto lemon and herb butter. If you wish, you can swap these for alternative fresh herbs depending on the flavor you would like to create for your dishes. Fresh sage would be a great option to accompany pork dishes or fresh cilantro for Asian inspired dishes. Please be sure to adjust your macros to account for any changes made to the recipe.

What Other Flavor Options Can I Make?

This Keto recipe is part of a series of flavored butters made 6 different ways. We have made a selection of different compound butters – both sweet and savory, which can be found in our sides section. These include walnut and blue cheese, sun-dried tomato, basil and parmesan, manchego and black olive, chocolate, orange and pecan, cinnamon mocha, and lemon and herb.

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoon, chopped thyme, fresh
  • 2 teaspoon rosemary, fresh
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon peel or zest raw
  • â…” cup unsalted butter
  • â…› teaspoon salt, sea salt

Instructions

  1. Let the butter come to room temperature so that it is soft and easy to mix. Add the softened butter to a mixing bowl and mash lightly with a fork. Finely chop the rosemary and pick the thyme leaves, discarding any stalks. Add the rosemary, thyme, lemon juice, lemon zest, and salt to the bowl with the softened butter.
  2. Use a fork to mash the butter, herbs, lemon juice, zest, and salt together. Beat everything together until well combined, and the flavorings are distributed evenly throughout the butter. Taste and adjust the seasonings as needed.
  3. Scoop the butter mix out from the bowl and onto a square of plastic wrap or baking paper. Use your hands to mold the butter roughly into a log shape. Wrap the edges of the plastic wrap/paper tightly around the butter, twisting the ends to seal. Transfer the flavored butter to the fridge to set and firm for two hours. Slice and serve as desired.
